3 Bible Tips: Why Fellowship?
God calls people from all walks of life and backgrounds into His Church. Why does He want people who wouldn't normally gravitate together to fellowship together?
1. Fellowship can help us to become unified as God wants us to be.
"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment" (1 Corinthians 1:9-10; see also John 17:21).
2. Fellowship can help us overcome our weaknesses and develop Christian character.
"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do" (Colossians 3:12-13; see also Romans 12:9-18).
3. Fellowship provides us with a network of support.
"Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep" (Romans 12:15).
