3 Bible Tips: The First Commandment
1. The First Commandment not only tells us that God is the only God, but that we should put nothing else before Him.
"I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. You shall have no other gods before Me" (Exodus 20:2-3).
2. We should seek first God, His Kingdom and His righteousness.
"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you" (Matthew 6:33).
3. The first four commandments can be summarized as "you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart..."
"'Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?' Jesus said to him, '"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind"'" (Matthew 22:36-37).
