3 Bible Tips: How Should We Face the Future?
How does God want us to deal with the year ahead and that scary time we call the future?
1. Should we give in to the natural tendency to worry?
"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble" (Matthew 6:34).
2. If we shouldn't worry, should we just ignore the future and become complacent?
"And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed" (Romans 13:11).
3. God-centered planning, with diligent effort, is the only really effective approach to the future. It answers worry with faith and complacency with urgency.
"Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty" (Proverbs 21:5, New Living Translation; see also Proverbs 3:5-6).
