3 Bible Tips: The Blood Speaks
Several times the Bible figuratively talks about blood speaking.
1. Abel's blood cried out for revenge.
"Then the Lord said to Cain, 'Where is Abel your brother?' He said, 'I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?' And He said, 'What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to Me from the ground'" (Genesis 4:9-10).
2. The blood of the covenant was a reminder of all the words of the Book of the Covenant.
"Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read in the hearing of the people. And they said, 'All that the Lord has said we will do, and be obedient.' And Moses took the blood, sprinkled it on the people, and said, 'This is the blood of the covenant which the Lord has made with you according to all these words'" (Exodus 24:7-8).
3. Humans have failed to live up to the covenant, so we can be thankful Christ's blood speaks of redemption—mercy and forgiveness based on His substitution as payment for our sins. We must listen and respond.
"To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven" (Hebrews 12:24-25).
