3 Bible Tips: Debt
1. It is not wise to get into debt.
"The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender" (Proverbs 22:7).
2. It is not wise to become security for another's debts, especially if you can't afford to pay.
"Do not be one of those who shakes hands in a pledge, one of those who is surety for debts; if you have nothing with which to pay, why should he take away your bed from under you?" (Proverbs 22:26-27).
3. Spiritually, we should remember how much we have been forgiven and forgive others.
"And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors…
"For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:12, 14-15).
