3 Bible Tips: Supplication
The Greek word translated supplication is transliterated deesis by Strong's Concordance and means a petition or a special request of God.
1. The disciples were unified in prayer and supplication.
"These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers" (Acts 1:14).
2. Supplication is associated with the armor of God.
"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints" (Ephesians 6:18).
3. Paul urges us to add thanksgiving to our requests and supplications.
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God" (Philippians 4:6).
