3 Bible Tips: Rahab the Harlot
The Bible isn't shy about revealing past sins of even good examples. Consider the prostitute in Jericho who protected the Israelite spies because she came to believe in the Creator God. "The harlot" was added almost as part of her name!
1. Rahab the harlot had heard of God's great works, and was willing in faith to leave her past life behind.
"And Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, her father's household, and all that she had. So she dwells in Israel to this day, because she hid the messengers whom Joshua sent to spy out Jericho" (Joshua 6:25; read the rest of the story of her faith and actions in Joshua 2).
2. Rahab the harlot's faith in action saved her life.
"By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace" (Hebrews 11:31; see also James 2:25).
3. Rahab was blessed to become an ancestor of the Messiah, Jesus Christ!
"Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah" (Matthew 1:5-6).
