3 Bible Tips: The New Jerusalem
The Bible concludes with a beautiful description of a spiritual New Jerusalem coming down to a new earth. What does the Bible say about this New Jerusalem?
1. God's people have always been inspired by the hope of the "city" God has prepared.
"But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them" (Hebrews 11:16).
2. John records the incredible event when God's dwelling place comes to earth.
"Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband" (Revelation 21:2).
3. The description of the beauty, purity and scope of the New Jerusalem is breathtaking!
"And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him" (Revelation 22:1-3; chapters 21 and 22 contain more descriptions of this city beyond human comprehension!).
