3 Bible Tips: The Beatitudes - Those Who Mourn
1. The second beatitude highlights God's comfort for those who mourn because of the effects of sin.
"Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4; see also Ezekiel 9:4).
2. In the Kingdom of God, joy and praise will replace mourning.
"To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified" (Isaiah 61:2-3).
3. The ultimate comfort will come after the Great White Throne Judgment when God will wipe away every tear.
"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
