3 Bible Tips: Avoiding Materialism
1. Beware of the desire for things—that's not what life is all about.
"And He said to them, 'Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses'" (Luke 12:15).
2. Covetousness can keep people out of the Kingdom of God.
"…nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God" (1 Corinthians 6:10).
3. Follow Paul's example of learning to be content.
"Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need" (Philippians 4:11-12).
